There’s something that fascinates me among my many fascinations. I could never understand the mysteries of love and what it does to a human and his faculties. It is such an invincible force that makes you feel emotions you thought you would never feel simultaneously— happiness, confusion, jealousy, name it as love makes you experience all of it.
Love is above and beyond all material things this world can offer. Invisible but something you can hold on to. It gives you hope and makes you believe that it’ll come for you when the time is right. Although it is faceless, it brings your wildest dreams to reality, constantly changing itself, shifting to another form— friends, family and that significant other you’ve been longing to find.
It makes you believe in the impossible— in all the goodness of the earth, enough to make you want to nurture yourself and be a better person. It inspires you to be creative, inventive and be in awe when you find yourself doing what found to be far-fetched not so long ago.
But there is always two sides of a coin like there is a negative side to everything that’s good in love. It can change you in ways you’ll find unimaginable. It can make a fool out of yourself, making you feel highly worthless and dejected. Most of the time, it makes you overcritical and impulsive— acting in an instant rather than thinking it through. In a heartbeat, it can take away everything you thoght you had- leaving you drained with a lot of bothersome thoughts swimming in your head. Sometimes, it makes you unreasonable, often finding yourself compelled to do something because you have to or when you go off because you are entitled to get mad at someone over something that could be anywhere from petty to severe, depending on how you look at it.
The trouble is, after all you’ve gone through, somewhere along the way, you lose yourself— liking what you’ve become because the other person likes what he sees. Losing control over yourself and consciously handing it over is like losing ones free will.
The choice is always ours. Love is a roller coaster but it doesn’t mean that when you fall, you have to tie yourself tight until you choke and get off the ride.
