A new drama thriller is about to hit Philippine Cinemas on September 19, 2012.
BIKTIMA, starring the multi-awarded Cesar Montano, known for her superb performance in ABS-CBN’s telenovela “Magkaribal” Angel Aquino and the two time Cannes Film Festival Favorite from award winning movies such as Serbis and Kinatay - Mercedes Cabral.
These trio’s performance will be unleashed this upcoming September. A story about how a family moves on after death. But what if the loss never was indeed true? Set in the backdrop of today’s terrorism world, this drama-thriller movie brings it to the limelight to the urban settings as an effect of the aftermath rather than the cause. Angel Aquino plays Alice, a TV reporter who is sent to cover a big media coverage in the outskirts far away, only to be ambushed by the rebels. Alice’s husband, Mark, played by Cesar Montano has to cope up and move on with this family tragedy with their 10 year old son, Buboy played by JM Rodriguez, who is known for his commercials in Philippine TV.

Comes in, Sandra, played by Mercedes Cabral who has a history with Mark from their college years. Mark sees Sandra’s genuine support and affection for the family. It doesn’t take time for them to develop their friendship into a different level.
But once, Alice’s body is found alive, Mark and Sandra have to halt their relationship for the love of Alice. But no one knows what really happened to Alice. How did she disappear? The movie moves on to reveal the tragic impact that Alice had during her disappearance. Suddenly, everyone becomes a victim of this situation. The real villain is terrorism itself and what it does to a person and to the people involved.
Will Mark cope up with this sudden change? Can Alice remain sane in this new life and will Sandra reveal to Alice what she has done to her family?
Biktima, is directed by young US trained Los Angeles Fil-Am director, R.D. Alba, whose specialty is in the psychological thriller genre. He directed this movie with a formula of an American style techniques combined with Filipino popular telenovela ingredients like love, betrayal, with a twist on edge of your seat psycho drama and full of mystery that will have segmented revelation till the climax and denoument of the story. Distributed by Star Cinema, Biktima will surely show the Filipino audience a new genre in movies for years to come.
